The Alvington Singers are a non-audition chamber choir of between 30 and 40 singers, formed in 1985. We are based in Kingsbridge, Devon, and gather members from around the South Hams. We enjoy singing a wide range of sacred and secular music with our inspiring Musical Director Robin Stubbs, and usually arrange a number of concerts locally throughout the year - including regularly singing at Buckfast Abbey.
The choir also sings regularly at events and church services in the South Hams area, from weddings and funerals to carol singing as part of 'Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas' or annually at The Thurlestone Hotel - do get in touch if you would like us to sing at your event or function.
We also support a nominated charity each year, usually arranging a collection at our concerts. and contributing ourselves when funds allow. We have raised money for St. Luke's Hospice, Plymouth and Prawle Point National Coastwatch Institution recently, and voted at our last AGM to raise funds for the Devon Air Ambulance at our forthcoming concerts in 2026.
Our annual Christmas concert in Kingsbridge is always popular. Thanks to the large audience who contributed to a retiring collection and a generous donation from the choir, our Treasurer Debbie, on the right in the photograph below, was able to present a cheque for £832.07 to St. Luke's Hospice a few years ago, to support their valuable work in the community. She is seen here with Colin Pincombe, a Hospice Volunteer, who also spoke on the evening, and Kim Dover, who works as New Partnerships Advisor for St. Luke's.
