The Alvington Singers are a non-audition chamber choir of between 30 and 40 singers, formed in 1985. We are based in Kingsbridge, Devon, and gather members from around the South Hams.
We enjoy singing a wide range of sacred and secular music with our inspiring Musical Director Robin Stubbs, and usually arrange a number of concerts locally throughout the year - including regularly singing at Buckfast Abbey.
REHEARSALS & RECRUITMENT
We rehearse every Wednesday evening from 7.00 - 9.00 p.m. in term time at The Methodist Church in Kingsbridge. Our Autumn Term runs from Wednesday 2nd September to Wednesday 16th December 2026. We are a small, friendly group of singers and rehearsals are usually a fun and positive experience!
We are always keen to hear from new singers, and are currently looking to recruit in our Tenor and Bass sections. Do get in touch via our website or Facebook page if you would like to learn more, or come to a rehearsal and meet us - if you would like to have an informal chat before this, please contact Liz Coates, our Membership Secretary, on 07784 642090 or by e-mail on lp49coates@gmail.com
UPCOMING CONCERTS
Our ever-popular Christmas Concert in St. Edmund's Church, Kingsbridge is planned for Wednesday 16th December 2026 at 7.30 p.m. We are singing Chillcott's 'On Christmas Night' along with popular choruses from Handel's 'Messiah' plus traditional carols for audience and choir to sing together - followed by mulled wine to celebrate the season!
Tickets will be available on the door or online nearer the time.
We have exciting plans for next year, including our next concert at Buckfast Abbey on Saturday 8th May 2027 - alongside other concerts and workshops in the South Hams area - all details to follow.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to welcoming you to our concerts.
