WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE FOR THE ALVINGTON SINGERS
The choir was formed in 1985 as a chamber choir, based in Kingsbridge and gathering members from around the South Hams. We enjoy singing a wide range of sacred and secular choral music with our inspiring Musical Director Harriet Oakley, and usually arrange a number of concerts locally throughout the year.
We rehearse every Wednesday at 7.00 p.m. during term time, in The Methodist Church, Kingsbridge - rehearsals start again on Wednesday 7th January 2026.
WE ARE NOW RECRUITING FOR A NEW MUSICAL DIRECTOR TO JOIN THE CHOIR BY SEPTEMBER 2026! Harriet Oakley, our wonderful current MD, is sadly leaving us to take up a new post at the end of May, and we have now started the process of finding her replacement. Please do get in touch with Pennie Brown, Chair of the Alvington Singers Committee, if this is of interest or if you know of someone else who might be interested to find out more - on 07973 195001 or e-mail [email protected] - thank you!
We are also always looking to recruit singers for our Tenor and Bass sections, though our Soprano and Alto sections are currently full. Do get in touch via our website or Facebook page if you would like to learn more, or come along to a rehearsal and meet us - or phone Liz Coates, our Membership Secretary, on 07784 642090 if you would like to chat beforehand.
Following our joyful and much-appreciated 40th Anniversary Celebration Concert back in the Summer 2025, and our sell-out concert in Buckfast Abbey on Saturday 8th November 2025, we are now fully recovered from Christmas and ready to sing again with new music and new plans.
Our first concert of the year 'Serenade - Music for a May Evening' is planned for Wednesday 20th May 2026 at All Saint's Church, Thurlestone at 7.30 p.m. - a date for the diary!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUING SUPPORT.
