WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE FOR THE ALVINGTON SINGERS
The choir was formed in 1985 as a chamber choir, based in Kingsbridge and gathering members from around the South Hams. We enjoy singing a wide range of sacred and secular choral music with our inspiring Musical Director Harriet Oakley, and usually arrange a number of concerts locally throughout the year.
We rehearse every Wednesday at 7.00 p.m. during term time, in The Methodist Church, Kingsbridge - rehearsals continue throughout June, and then start again on Wednesday 10th September 2025 after a Summer Break.
We are looking to recruit singers for our Tenor and Bass sections currently, so do get in touch via our website or Facebook page if you would like to learn more, or come along to a rehearsal and meet us - or phone Liz Coates, our Membership Secretary, on 07784 642090 if you would like to chat beforehand.
We are currently celebrating 40 years since the choir was first formed in 1985. Following our joyful and much appreciated 40th Anniversary Celebration Concert a few weeks ago, we are now starting to prepare for our annual performance at Buckfast Abbey - details below - and just beginning to think about Christmas!
Saturday 8th November 2025 - Buckfast Abbey Concert with a programme to include Faure's 'Requiem' with professional soloists and orchestra.
Wednesday 3rd December 2025 - provisional date for our popular annual Christmas Concert in St. Edmund's Church, Kingsbridge.
We do hope that you will join us - and thank you for your continuing support.
