The
Alvington Singers were established in 1985
as a chamber choir of thirty members. Based in Kingsbridge, its membership
is drawn from all around the South Hams district.
Concerts take place
throughout the year, covering a wide range of both secular and sacred music,
including vocal and instrumental soloists, as well as major works with
orchestral accompaniment.
The choir is keen to promote young performers and frequently invites
local schoolchildren to take part. Concerts take place in a variety of
venues, usually to raise money for charitable causes.
In addition to concerts, the choir is often invited to sing at
weddings,
functions and local festivals.
